Mode of teaching: ONLINE - asynchronous lecture and Moodle forum discussion with synchronous Zoom group listening and discussion. All synchronous Zoom classes will be recorded and posted to Moodle later the same day.

This course is a survey of what is often referred to as classical, concert, or art music in Western European and Western European-influenced cultures. From the Middle Ages through the beginning of the 21st century, students will study a variety of composers and their contributions to the world of vocal and instrumental music.

There are no prerequisites for this course. The ability to read music or have any prior background in music is not required.

This course satisfies the Distribution Requirement for Visual and Performing Arts and is a requirement for the music major and minor.
