Welcome to Bio 113! This course along with Bio 114 are organized around the 5 Big Ideas of Biology: Information, Evolution, Cells, Emergent Properties, and Homeostasis. We will focus on how these concepts apply to molecules, genes, and cells. The weekly laboratory emphasizes core competencies of the process of science including the interdisciplinary nature of modern molecular biology, data interpretation, quantitative skills, communication in multiple formats, and experience in researching scientific literature.
