In this seminar style course students will explore the biological and chemical principles behind the newest biotechnology tools in medicine. Topics such as nanotechnology based drug delivery approaches, 3D organ printing for transplantation, cancer immunotherapy approaches, and molecular diagnostic tools will be selected based on student interest. Students will learn to analyze primary literature, organize and present their literature findings in oral presentations and a term paper. Prerequisites: Bio111 and at least one of the following classes Bio201, Bio202, Bio208, Bio303, Bio306, or Bio307.
