Chinese 301, Advanced Chinese I, is standard Mandarin Chinese designed for students who have had two years of Chinese at the college level. Emphasis is on extensive reading and discussion of texts. Students will also learn more vocabulary, phrasal verbs, idiomatic expressions and sentence patterns at the advanced level.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
To be able to understand native Chinese speakers’ everyday dialogues (not only limited to materials designed for educational use);
To improve communicative fluency and be able to participate in discussions on unfamiliar topics and in unfamiliar situations;
To be able to handle a dialogue with nearly full linguistic control and cultural accuracy in familiar situations;
To be able to read, discuss, understand, and analyze written texts designed for native speakers;
To be able to express opinions at paragraph levels on an abstract topic;
