Course Description

Acting II  is a participatory class designed to teach the student an advanced approach to actor training. Students in the course will increase their acting range and emotional accessibility through intense work on three styles of play texts: a contemporary emotionally-charged scene, a scene from William Shakespeare and a comedic scene. For the contemporary scene, we will apply the acting techniques of the Practical Handbook to connect the actor to the character. With Shakespeare, we will implement tested methods to unlock the language through the body and the voice. With the comedic scene, we will practice comedic principles within a theatre scene. Additionally, the student will acquire an elementary study of acting for the camera and the audition monologue. Throughout the semester, there will be character analysis  assignments for your scenes along with one production response.
